Let’s talk API

So, what is API all about?

An API (application programming interface) is a set of procedures and functions within a software program that allows it to interface with other software programs.

Standardized APIs prevent software solutions from having to be built from scratch. Even software solutions built from scratch would need to contain internal APIs so that other software can interface with it and access data.

Examples might include a mortgage originating system with an API that allows it to interface with a point of sale system.
